MOGADISHU, Somalia – The 2025 Humanitarian Needs Response Plan for Somalia was unveiled in Mogadishu on Wednesday, signaling a united effort to address the nation’s severe humanitarian challenges.
Spearheaded by the United Nations in Somalia and Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG) George Conway, the initiative seeks to mobilize resources and implement targeted interventions for vulnerable communities facing prolonged drought, displacement, food insecurity, and limited access to essential services.
Key priorities include food security, water and sanitation improvements, healthcare access, protection for displaced populations, and emergency education for affected children.
DSRSG Conway underscored the urgency of collective action, describing the plan as “a call to action” to ensure no one is left behind.
The UN and Somali government urge the international community to bolster funding and collaboration, marking this launch as a critical step toward building a more resilient and self-sufficient Somalia.
