MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali on Monday received copies of the diplomatic credentials from five newly appointed ambassadors representing Canada, Finland, Norway, Cuba and Spain.
The ceremony, held in Mogadishu, marks a fresh step in Somalia’s diplomatic engagement as the country deepens ties with a diverse group of international partners.
In a statement, Minister Ali welcomed the ambassadors to their new postings and highlighted the growing importance of Somalia’s bilateral partnerships. He underscored the need to strengthen political, economic and security cooperation with the nations they represent.
The minister urged the new envoys to prioritize expanding cooperation and friendship across multiple sectors, adding that the Somali government and its people are committed to working closely with them.
The arrival of the five ambassadors comes as Somalia continues efforts to rebuild its international standing, boost foreign relations, and attract greater global support for stability and development initiatives.
