MOGADISHU, Somalia — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received the Letters of Credence from seven newly accredited ambassadors during a diplomatic ceremony at the Villa Somalia Presidential Palace, marking the formal start of their assignments in Somalia.
The ambassadors represent Algeria, Brazil, India, Mali, Myanmar, Nigeria and Pakistan, according to the Somali government.
The newly accredited envoys are:
- Mohamed Alim, Ambassador of Algeria
- João Alfredo dos Anjos, Ambassador of Brazil
- Dr. Adarsh Swaika, Ambassador of India
- Dr. Madou Diallo, Ambassador of Mali
- Aung Min Oo, Ambassador of Myanmar
- Danlami Ibrahim, Ambassador of Nigeria
- Aqsa Nawaz, Ambassador of Pakistan
The ceremony brought together representatives of countries spanning Africa, Asia and Latin America, reflecting the breadth of Somalia’s diplomatic engagement.
President Hassan Sheikh welcomed the ambassadors and expressed his hopes for closer relations and cooperation during their tenure. The envoys also conveyed greetings from their respective governments and outlined their commitment to strengthening ties with Somalia.
The presentation of credentials is a formal diplomatic process through which ambassadors are officially accredited to the host country. For Somalia, the arrival of the seven envoys comes as Mogadishu continues to expand diplomatic engagement and cooperation with international partners.
The ceremony underscores the government’s emphasis on strengthening bilateral relations across political, economic, security and development issues.
