MOGADISHU, Somalia — Former Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has called for inclusive political dialogue and a national agreement on the country’s electoral framework following a meeting with the United Nations Transitional Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS) Officer-in-Charge, Raisedon Zenenga.
Roble said the meeting in Mogadishu focused on Somalia’s political and security situation, as well as the need to strengthen cooperation around the country’s constitutional transition.
He stressed the importance of respecting the Constitution and the mandates of state institutions, saying adherence to established legal and institutional frameworks is essential to protecting national unity and maintaining peace.
Roble also called for broader political consultations on the electoral framework, with the aim of reaching an agreement that can command wider national support and help reduce political tensions.
The meeting comes as Somalia continues discussions over its political and electoral arrangements, with questions surrounding the electoral framework and constitutional process remaining central to the country’s political agenda.
Roble’s comments underline the role of dialogue and institutional processes in resolving political differences as Somalia works toward its next phase of constitutional and electoral transition.
