0

BOSASO, Somalia – Puntland security forces have apprehended eight individuals, including six foreigners, in connection to an alleged ISIS militant killed while attempting to plant an explosive device in Bosaso, a key city in northeastern Somalia.

Authorities revealed that the suspects are believed to be part of a network associated with the militant, who was fatally shot during the operation.

“Eight individuals, including six foreigners, have been apprehended by the forces. They are part of the group that was working with the foreign man who was killed while planting an explosive device. Additionally, 100 people are currently in custody and under investigation,” a senior security official told Arlaadi Media Network.

The nationalities of the foreign suspects remain undisclosed, as the investigation continues. Puntland, a semi-autonomous Somali region, has increasingly been targeted by extremist groups, including ISIS and al-Shabaab, underscoring the ongoing security challenges.

Officials describe the arrests as a critical step in dismantling militant networks and bolstering safety in the region. Further details are expected as investigations progress.
