MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s Foreign Minister, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, welcomed a high-level Turkish delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Burhanettin Duran on Monday.
Their discussions, held at the Ministry, centered on bolstering bilateral ties, advancing strategic cooperation, and expanding partnerships across key economic and security sectors.
Deputy Minister Duran conveyed greetings from Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Minister Ahmed Fiqi and reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to implementing the objectives outlined in the Ankara Declaration of December 11, 2024.
Both sides emphasized the necessity of executing existing agreements in crucial areas such as defense, investment, fisheries, and natural resources.
They underscored the importance of a strong partnership to drive economic growth, support sustainable development, and ensure long-term regional stability.
The meeting was attended by Somalia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Isaak Mohamud Mursal, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, H.E. Hamza Adan Haadoow, and other senior officials.
The discussions reinforced the mutual commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
However, this engagement reflects the ongoing efforts by Somalia and Turkey to deepen their collaboration and foster regional security and economic resilience.
