BAIDOA, Somalia – The city of Baidoa, the interim capital of Somalia’s South West state, is reeling after the shocking rape and murder of Hawo Luul, a middle-aged girl, who was brutally attacked with a knife on Sunday. Authorities suspect the crime was linked to a family-related dispute over a phone.
According to initial reports, Hawo Luul was assaulted in her own home before being viciously stabbed to death. The gruesome nature of the crime has triggered widespread public outrage, with residents demanding swift action against those responsible.
Speaking exclusively to Arlaadi Media Network, Hawo Luul’s grief-stricken parents, including her father Abdiladhif, expressed their deep sorrow and called for immediate justice.
“We demand the arrest of the perpetrator. No family should endure such pain,” Abdiladhif stated while speaking to Arlaadi Media Network.
Abdiladhif, who has special needs, made an emotional plea to South West State President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, urging the regional leader to ensure swift legal action.
“I am calling on President Laftagareen to intervene. My daughter deserves justice,” he emotionally stated, struggling to hold back tears.
The tragic incident has on Monday reignited concerns over gender-based violence and the vulnerability of women and girls in Baidoa.
Human rights activists and community leaders have condemned the act, calling on authorities to strengthen protection measures and hold perpetrators accountable.
Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation, but as of now, no arrests have been made. Local residents and activists are urging the government to act swiftly before the suspect escapes justice.
