MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has held talks with his Serbian counterpart, Đuro Matsut, in Belgrade aimed at boosting cooperation between the two countries.
The leaders met at the Palace of Serbia on Tuesday, discussing ways to expand collaboration in education, security, and economic development.
During the visit, a memorandum of understanding on health cooperation was signed. The agreement covers the exchange of medical expertise, joint research, and training for healthcare professionals.
Speaking after the meeting, PM Barre highlighted opportunities for cooperation in education and technology, particularly for young people, as well as cultural exchange. PM Matsut pledged Serbia’s support for Somalia’s security initiatives, including efforts to combat terrorism and promote regional stability.
Officials described the meeting as a significant step towards deeper bilateral ties, paving the way for a more collaborative future between Somalia and Serbia.
