Doha, Qatar — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has met with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at Lusail Palace in Doha to convey his condolences following the passing of the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
During the meeting, President Mohamud expressed Somalia’s sympathy and solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar during what he described as a time of national mourning.
The Somali leader extended his condolences to Emir Sheikh Tamim, the Qatari Royal Family and the people of Qatar, wishing them strength and patience as they mourn the loss.
According to a statement from Somalia’s Presidency, the meeting also “underscored the close ties between Somalia and Qatar, with President Mohamud reaffirming Somalia’s solidarity with the Gulf nation during the period of bereavement”.
