ARUSHA, Tanzania — Speaker of Somalia’s House of the People Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Jama held talks with the Speaker of Australia’s House of Representatives, Milton Dick, in Arusha on Monday, focusing on strengthening parliamentary relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting addressed opportunities to deepen ties between the Somali and Australian parliaments, including the exchange of parliamentary experience and strengthening parliamentary diplomacy.

The two speakers also discussed ways to enhance institutional cooperation and share knowledge on parliamentary procedures and legislative work.

Jama was accompanied at the meeting by Somali lawmaker Ismail Ciid Mohamed and Somalia’s ambassador to Tanzania and the East African Community, Ilyas Ali Hassan.

The talks took place in Arusha as Somalia continues to expand its engagement with regional and international parliamentary institutions.
