IOM Somalia Chief Holds Talks with Somaliland Foreign Minister in Hargeisa

HARGEISA, Somaliland – The Chief of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Somalia, Manuel Marques Pereira, met with Somaliland’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdirahman Aw Ali Farah, in Hargeisa on Sunday.

Their discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, enhancing ongoing partnerships, and identifying new opportunities to expand IOM’s initiatives in Somaliland’s administration.

According to a statement issued following the meeting, both officials emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration between IOM and Somaliland authorities to address key migration and development challenges.

They explored ways to bolster IOM’s role in supporting Somaliland’s governance structures, humanitarian programs, and migration management efforts.

IOM has been actively engaged in Somaliland, providing technical and financial assistance in areas such as border management, displacement response, and livelihood support for vulnerable communities.
