BOSASO, Puntland – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni met with UK Ambassador to Somalia Charles King and his delegation on Wednesday to discuss security, political stability, and development efforts in the semi-autonomous region.

The meeting, attended by members of Puntland’s cabinet, focused on the ongoing campaign against ISIS in Calmiskad, as well as broader strategies to stabilize areas recently cleared of extremist militants.

Puntland, which has its own administration separate from Somalia’s federal government, has faced repeated security challenges from al-Shabaab and other militant groups in recent years.

The UK delegation expressed continued support for Puntland’s counterterrorism efforts and explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation on development and governance initiatives.

These discussions come amid growing international concern about the resilience of extremist groups in Somalia and the need for regional stability.

President Deni highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between local authorities and international partnersto ensure lasting peace and economic growth in Puntland.
