CAIRO – Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali has met with Massad Boulos, the US President’s Senior Advisor for Africa, in Cairo for discussions on security, diplomatic relations and regional stability.
The talks covered Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, efforts to combat terrorism, Red Sea security, and the future of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS).
The meeting comes after Washington said it would not continue backing the UN mission’s logistical support framework beyond its current mandate, raising uncertainty over the future of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) after 31 December 2026.
Officials say the discussions are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between Somalia and its international partners as the country continues to address security challenges in the Horn of Africa.
