MOGADISHU, Somalia — The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Norway have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Somalia’s peacebuilding, stabilization and economic transformation following talks in Mogadishu.
UNDP Somalia Resident Representative Christophoros Politis hosted Einar Rystad, Norway’s Special Envoy to Somalia, for discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in peacebuilding, inclusion, stabilization and private sector development.
“It was a pleasure hosting Einar Rystad,” Politis said after the meeting, adding that the two sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to supporting Somalia’s long-term transformation through development and institution-building.
Norway is one of Somalia’s longstanding development partners, providing support for governance reforms, humanitarian assistance, peacebuilding initiatives and economic recovery through bilateral programs and multilateral institutions.
The meeting comes as international partners increasingly emphasize linking stabilization efforts with job creation and private sector investment, alongside support for Somalia’s ongoing political and security transition.
