DODOMA, Tanzania — Somalia plans to build a new embassy in Tanzania’s capital, Dodoma, after receiving land from the Tanzanian government, Somali Ambassador Ilyas Ali Hassan said.
Hassan visited the designated site following the inauguration of Tanzania’s new government administrative centre in Mtumba, where he expressed appreciation for the land provided by the host government.
The ambassador said the gesture reflected the longstanding friendship between Somalia and Tanzania, underscoring the importance of their diplomatic relations and continued cooperation.
The planned embassy is expected to provide Somalia with a permanent diplomatic presence in Dodoma, which serves as Tanzania’s political and administrative capital.
Hassan thanked the Tanzanian government for allocating the land, describing the decision as a sign of goodwill between the two countries.
The announcement highlights the countries’ continuing diplomatic engagement as Somalia seeks to strengthen its representation abroad and maintain relations with regional partners.
