ANKARA – Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Omar, met with Türkiye’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Musa Kulaklıkaya to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, as Ankara continues to strengthen its diplomatic engagement with Mogadishu.
The meeting focused on cooperation between the two countries and efforts to enhance stability in Somalia and the wider region. Türkiye has played an active role in supporting Somalia’s development, security institutions and political dialogue, including efforts to facilitate discussions between the federal government and opposition groups over disputes related to the 2026 elections model and constitutional reforms.
Following the talks, Ali Omar praised Türkiye’s continued support for Somalia’s national development, security and institution-building efforts.
He said the relationship between Mogadishu and Ankara was built on trust, mutual respect and a shared commitment to achieving a stable, united and prosperous Somalia.
Türkiye has become one of Somalia’s closest international partners, providing assistance in areas including infrastructure, security cooperation, humanitarian support and economic development.
